The production of a master pattern or part is the very first step in the urethane casting process. This is where the mold and casting are to be created. It is when you are making these master patterns that you are able to use different method like machining. Ther is also a common method in making these master pattern and that is through stereolithography (SLA). The use of UV-curable photopolymer resin in combination with a UV laser is what is needed in order to do this one. It is a 3D component that will be made once this process is done.
Suspended in a box or a frame with a gate assembly is what is done whenever the master pattern has already been created. The RTV silicone is then poured around it so that the pattern will be fully enclosed in silicone. There is now a curing o the silicone after this one. There are cuts that need to be done so that the silicon can be removed from the master pattern. It is now the urethane material that will be poured into the silicone and allowed to harden. Whenever the urethane material has hardened then it is now removed from the silicone mold. The silicone mold can now be reused for further production.
